Kim Burrel banned from a chat show after preaching against Homosexuality

Renowned gospel artist Kim Burrell has stood by a church sermon for which she was banned from appearing on the Ellen De Generes chat show.

She was due to sing alongside Pharrell Williams later this week but the host has since tweeted to say her appearance has been cancelled.

Preaching in December at Love & Liberty Fellowship Church in Houston, where she pastors, she said gay people have a “perverted homosexual spirit” filled with “delusion and confusion”.

She then said the homosexual spirit had “deceived many men and women, and it’s caused us pain on the body of Christ.

Following much criticism online she later posted a video on Facebook defending her comments, stating they were for the Church rather than the wider public and that she had been misquoted.

Burrell said she makes “no excuses or apologies” and condemned people for claiming she believes all gay people will go to hell – something she did not say.

She added: “I know that people are going to be mad. To every person that is dealing with the homosexual spirit, that has it, I love you because God loves you.

“But God hates the sin in you and me, anything that is against the nature of God.”

¬†Pharrell Williams tweeted on New Year’s Eve after Kim Burrell’s comments emerged that he condemns any hate speech. It’s unclear whether it’s linked to Burrell.

The pair have performed their song together on a number of TV shows.

The song ‘I See a Victory’ appears in the movie Hidden Figures, which tells the story of African-American women who worked at Nasa.
